2021 in Review

Revenue tripled with 1 new hotel branch and 1 new business unit started. Nearly 1000 families helped during the year-end flooding. Given talk to +500 people on digital nomadism. +100 pitches evaluated and +20 entrepreneurs mentored.

Life in H1 was slow but H2 was more colourful. On business, I went full time on my business this year (i still miss Microsoft tho) and we tripled our revenue. On politics, from Bersatu, i joined MUDA even before it was formalised as a political party. on NGO, Economic Elevation Society first program executed with success and and joined Khairul Jamain at Impactive Malaysia as deputy.

First half of the year

Personal — Earlier in the year, I and my GF were able to date only once every 3 months, due to the lockdown. Lil sister got married. I finally got my car license after 9 years of driving. Ouh, i got a cat too. We named him, snowball. Cause he is “white”.

Business — We entered into a stricter lockdown nationally. My business were severely affected but somehow survived as we still have many regular customers staying with us. Despite all that, we expanded our operations, securing 2 new units;1 for a hotel and 1 for a hostel. Also, we were featured on VulcanPost.

Politics — I was still with Bersatu as secretary of youth wing of the parliament. But i didnt plan to stay for long. I dont think the DNA of Bersatu fits me. I sent resignation letter few months after.

NGO — Foxtreme progressed a lot, leading some tourism events with local government agencies.

Second half of the year

Personal — With DPMM, did my first online talk, talking about my experience as a digital nomad. First talk, more than 500 audience. Next year target, 1000 audience. With Magic Academy, mentored some of their entrepreneurs too, about 20 of them. With UMK, we evaluated pitching by more than 200 entrepreneurs to get them to win final pitching in Switzerland. With dad, i went to see my Durian farm and tried to plant them by myself. I was bad at it, really. At Rihla, met some group of super interesting intellectuals. Prof Asan, we need to catch up. Ouh, dad got his new car, a Vellfire.

Business — Business back on track. In fact, performing beyond expectation. By year end, we tripled our revenue. During Q4, met with Zico and got invited to partner on Airbnb business venture. The target? Rencana Royale. We will revisit the plan in 2022.

Politics — I formally joined MUDA and given the role to lead the state of Kelantan. Honoured, but boy, thats a big responsibility. But MUDA is the right platform, surrounded the right kind of people and driven by the right kind of principles. Year end, banjir went crazy. Kelantan org put into test and yes, we made it happen. We helped nearly 1,000 families in many different districts.

NGO — Foxtreme were approached by Kesedar to help them with tourism program. My NGO, GM Economic Elevation Society ran our first program, PUBG competition. It was a success. 2022, perhaps another 2 events.

2022 Goals

  1. Triple revenue again to RM300k a year (+100k in 2021)
  2. Open 2 new hotels in 2 new locations (2 in 2021)
  3. Build 2 new profitable business divisions; civil construction and international trade (2 in 2021)
  4. Run online talk with 1000 audience (+500 in 2021)
  5. Mentor 50 entrepreneurs (+20 in 2021)
  6. Evaluate 400 pitches (+200 in 2021)
  7. Run 2 youth-oriented programs under GM Economic Elevation Society. (1 in 2021)
  8. Help 1500 families under MUDA (+700 in 2021)
  9. Build hire-able capacity of 100 youth under MUDA (0 in 2021)
  10. Read 6 books (3 in 2021)
  11. Write 12 essays/blogposts (1 in 2021)

Dont forget: spend more time at cafe reading and researching, do annual survey with our 2021 customers, annual recap of business performance and send to key people, write more in 2022 6.
